Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

CCAF Prep is an unofficial, free study companion for the Claude Certified Architect – Foundations exam. It is operated by Coulter Digital Services Inc. (coulterdigital.com), which is the data controller responsible for the information described here. This page explains what information we collect about you, why, and the rights you have over it.

2. Data we collect

When you create an account and use the course, we collect and store:

• Account information: your name and email address, used to identify you, let you log in, and send account-related email (verification, password reset).
• Learning progress: which areas of the curriculum you have started or mastered.
• Quiz attempts: the questions you were shown, your answers, and your scores, so the app can grade attempts and show you gap reports.
• Question statistics: how often you have seen and answered each question correctly, used to vary future question draws.
• Entitlements and credit balance:whether you have purchased ad-free access, your current AI-tutor credit balance, and a ledger of credit purchases, grants, and usage (see "Payments" and "AI tutor credits" below).
• AI-tutor conversations:the messages you send to the AI tutor and the replies it sends back, stored so you can revisit a conversation and so usage can be metered (see "AI tutor" below).

We do not collect government IDs or other sensitive personal data.

3. Payments

Ad-free purchases and AI-tutor credit packs are processed by Stripe, our payment processor. You enter your card details directly into Stripe's own checkout page — your card number, CVC, and other payment-card data are never entered into, transmitted to, or stored on our servers. We receive and store only the outcome of a payment (that it succeeded, its amount, and Stripe's event/session identifiers) so we can grant the corresponding ad-free status or credits and show you a purchase history.

4. AI tutor credits

Using the AI tutor (question explanations and generated lessons) spends credits from the balance described above. Credits are purchased in fixed packs and, once spent on a completed AI-tutor response, are non-refundable except where required by applicable law (for example, statutory consumer-protection rights that cannot be waived, or where the tutor failed to deliver a response and no charge should have been made — our system already reverses a credit reserve automatically in that case). Unused, unspent credit balance is deleted, along with the rest of your account data, if you delete your account; it is not cashed out or refunded on deletion.

5. AI tutor: data sent to Anthropic

When you use the AI tutor, the question you asked, relevant curriculum context, and your conversation history in that thread are sent to and processed by Anthropic's Claude API to generate a response. This is a separate, arm's-length service: Anthropic processes this content to return a reply, under its own privacy policy and API terms. We store the conversation (see "Data we collect" above) so it remains available to you and so credit usage can be metered; we do not otherwise share it with any third party.

6. Sponsor and ad placements

Free-tier (non ad-free) accounts see ad placements on non-quiz pages (for example, the dashboard and learning pages). Purchasing ad-free access (see "Payments" above) removes them. When we serve network ads, they are delivered by EthicalAds, a privacy-respecting network that chooses ads from the page's topic (contextual), sets no tracking cookies, and does not build a profile of you or receive your account data. First-party ("house") promotions of our own paid features may also appear in these slots.

7. Cookies

We currently use two kinds of browser storage, both first-party (no third party sets anything):

• Session cookie: required to keep you signed in. This is set by our authentication system and is not optional if you want to use an account.
• Cookie consent preference:a small value saved in your browser's local storage recording whether you accepted or declined non-essential cookies, so we don't ask again on every visit.

When we serve network ads, they are served by EthicalAds (see above), which is contextual and sets no tracking cookies; we otherwise run no third-party advertising or analytics scripts. If that changes, this policy — and the cookie banner — will be updated before any such script runs.

8. How we use your data

Your data is used solely to operate the course for you: authenticating you, tracking your progress and mastery gates, grading quiz attempts, showing you where to focus your review, processing payments, and metering and delivering AI-tutor responses. We do not sell your data or share it with third parties for marketing.

9. Your rights: export and deletion

From your account page, you can:

• Export a JSON copy of your profile, learning progress, quiz attempts, and question statistics at any time.
• Deleteyour account, which permanently removes your login and all of the app data listed above — including your entitlements/credit balance, credit ledger, AI-tutor conversations, and review-queue schedule. This cannot be undone, and any remaining credit balance is not refunded on deletion (see "AI tutor credits" above).

10. Data retention and security

We retain your data for as long as your account exists, or until you delete it. When you delete your account, your app data is removed from our active database promptly; residual copies may persist in encrypted backups for a limited period before being overwritten in the normal backup rotation. We protect your data in transit and at rest using industry-standard encryption, and limit access to it to what is needed to operate the service.
